About Me
Kirsten Bresson
I've had a love for the game since the moment I could pick up a basketball. I played rec ball all through grade school. I did not make my school team in 7th grade and that was a tough lesson for me. However, I used that as fuel to work extremely hard that season and the following year. I ended up making the school team in 8th grade and winning the Robert Wheeler Award. During my high school career, I was the only freshman to make varsity, and continued to play all four years. My 2012-13 season we won the State Championship for the first time in 13 years! That will forever be one of my favorite moments in my life. My senior year I was awarded the Falcon Award, one of the highest athletic achievements given at Bow High School. I worked day and night to develop my craft, so I could play in college. I went on to play for the Hartwick Hawks in Oneonta, New York. My sophomore year, I made the conscious decision to focus on my studies, so I participated in Intramurals. When I came home that summer, I received an internship, and decided to focus on that and because I stayed home, I received the opportunity to coach the JV girls program of my alma mater. I coached at Bow for two seasons and started doing some individual trainings in the off season. Soon after, I was then was blessed with my beautiful son. After taking some time off, I really missed coaching, and received another offer from Concord High School, where I coached the JV girls program for two seasons. As much as I love coaching at the high school level, I truly enjoy working individually and with smaller groups because I feel the kids get more out of it. I enjoy seeing the kids leave a session with a smile on their face because they learned something new, or they beat their high score in a timed exercise.
Today, I play in a co-ed league out of Manchester, NH. I am also in the process of become a certified referee in New Hampshire. In my spare time, I enjoy trips to the beach, adventures with my son, family time, and listing to music/attending concerts.
I focus on the fundamentals and overall health of the child. My strategy does not put emphasis on shooting or three-pointers. I want kids of all ages to perfect breakdown moves, hold a defensive stance and know how to shift in a man-to-man defense versus zone defense. My hope is for kids to increase their endurance, footwork, strength and mental health by putting the focus on the little things and not putting pressure to score the most points. I was always taught that defense wins championships and I am a true believer in the philosophy.
